2025-26 Deer

Deer Archery: Sept. 6-8 (antlered bucks only); Sept. 27-Feb. 28.
Deer Alternative Firearms (permit required): Oct. 11-15.
Deer Modern Gun (permit required): Nov. 1-5.
Deer Modern Gun Special Youth Hunt: Jan. 3-4.
WMA Deer Bag Limit: Three deer, no more than one buck, which may include:

• One buck with archery.
• Three does with archery.
• One buck and two antlerless deer with alternative firearms permit.
• One buck and two antlerless deer with modern gun permit.

Deer Notes:

• 15-inch inside spread or 18-inch main beam rule.
• No dogs.

2025-26 Dove

Eurasian Collared Doves must remain fully feathered in the field and while being transported from the field.

Dove Notes: The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission prepares a few fields each year for the opening weekend of dove season so the public has a place to enjoy this exciting form of wingshooting. Dove fields on WMAs are available on a first-come, first-served basis. WMA acreage put into dove fields is relatively small because most hunters only pursue doves the first few days of the season. However, after opening weekend of dove season, many wildlife species feed in the fields, particularly those that were top sown with winter wheat.

2025-26 Rabbit

Sept. 1, 2025-Feb. 28, 2026. Daily limit – 8, possession limit – 16.

2025-26 Squirrel

May 15, 2025-Feb. 28, 2026. Dogs allowed. Daily limit – 12, possession limit – 48.

Waterfowl Notes:

• Waterfowl hunting allowed only on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays and all day Jan. 31.
• No boats allowed Nov. 16-22, Dec. 3-9 and Dec. 24-26.
• Closed to all access (except in parking areas and boat launch ramps) from 2-4 a.m. Nov. 23-Jan. 31 and Feb. 8-9.
• No boats allowed from 1 p.m. to 4 a.m. Nov. 23-Dec. 2, Dec. 10-23 and Dec. 27-Jan. 31.
  Exception 1 – Boats allowed from 1-6:30 p.m. Jan. 31 and Feb. 8-9.
  Exception 2 – Boating access is allowed on Lake Cargile throughout the season.
• No boats allowed Monday, Wednesday and Friday from Nov. 23-Jan. 29.
• No airboats during duck season.
• Deer Modern Gun Hunt permit holders may access Steve Frick Waterfowl Rest Area Nov. 2-6.

2025 Bear

Bear Archery: Sept. 17-Nov. 30.
Bear Alternative Firearms: Oct. 11-15 (deer permit holders only).
Bear Modern Gun: Nov. 1-5 (deer permit holders only).

Bear Notes:

• Statewide bag limit.
• No dogs.
• Bear Zone 1 quota does not apply on this WMA.

2026 Turkey

Youth Hunt: April 11-12. One legal turkey.
Firearms Hunt (permit required): April 20-22, April 25-27 and May 2-4. One legal turkey.

Area Notes

• A free annual General Use Permit (WMP) is required to hunt or trap on WMAs. Permits are available online by clicking “Buy Licenses” at agfc.com or by calling 800-364-4263 or any regional office.
• CWD carcass movement restrictions apply in Pope county.
• Check antler restrictions for important additional information.
• The Steve Frick Waterfowl Rest Area is closed to access Nov. 1-Feb. 15 (except deer permit holders).
• The Wylie Cox Field Trial Area is open using  Ed Gordon Point Remove WMA season dates and bag limits.
• Dog training is still allowed from Sept. 1-March 31.
