SPRINGDALE — The latest issue of Arkansas Wildlife Magazine is at the printer and will soon be hitting subscriber’s mailboxes with a special feature on the J.B. and Johnelle Hunt Family Ozark Highlands Nature Center, the latest addition to the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s network of nature and education centers.
Scheduled to open later this fall, the nature center has been a much-anticipated addition to northwest Arkansas by the public as well as the Commission. The center was brought to the forefront in November 2015, when Johnelle Hunt announced a donation of $5 million toward the construction of a new nature center in the Springdale area. Planning was formalized and the ground was broken in 2017, beginning the work on this major improvement to the Commission’s presence in the fastest growing area of the state. Now, with the opening being counted in weeks, the anticipation by staff and Commissioners is at a fever pitch.
Visit the magazine’s web page at www.arkansaswildlife.com to get a sneak peek at the nature center and other articles penned for the November/December issue. While you’re there, it’s a great time to subscribe or get a gift subscription to a family member or friend for the holiday season.
