MAYFLOWER — The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission is extending the deadline for landowners to repair boat docks and other permitted structures on Lake Conway to Dec. 31, 2025. The initial deadline for removal of condemned structures on the lake was set for July 1, 2025.

“We’ve checked more than 900 structures on Lake Conway’s shoreline, and most are still in good working order,” Nick Feltz, District Fisheries Supervisor in the AGFC’s Mayflower Office, said. “We have 174 that were classified and posted as condemned. Some of those structures were repairable, and we want to give the landowners around Lake Conway every opportunity to get those structures back in compliance with the AGFC Land Use Policy before we begin removing condemned structures. If we remove the structures, a landowner will not be approved to rebuild anything until 2030.”

Feltz says landowners can contact the Fisheries District 10 staff at 833-338-3636 or visit them at the Mayflower Office just west of the Pierce Creek Access on Ark. Highway 89 to check the status of their boat house or structure and exact details on repairs needed.

“We previously posted the structures with notices and attempted to contact owners of any condemned structures through certified mail,” Feltz said. “We have photos and notes to help walk landowners through the needed repairs. Landowners can also contact us to get permits for shoreline improvement projects they wish to take on during the lake’s renovation process.”

The renovation is still on track to be complete by no later than December 2028, and Feltz says things will move quickly as contractors begin to mobilize for boat lane work and other construction projects on the lake.

“We have a list of shoreline improvement guidelines for landowners as well as a link to the AGFC-Owned Lake Land Use Policy at www.agfc.com/lakeconway to help landowners make their part of the lake as nice as they can before the renovation is complete,” Feltz said. “We’re also placing some dumpsters at the Highway 89 Bridge Access for landowners to dispose of shoreline litter and debris. The dumpsters will be available May 9-12 and May 16-19 for shoreline litter cleanup. We ask everyone to please refrain from disposing of construction materials or household garbage in these containers and only use them for litter, debris and other items found on the lakebed near their property.”
