  • During regular duck season, hunting is only allowed on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays.
  • Anyone entering flooded areas must have a signed Steve N. Wilson Raft Creek Bottoms Waterfowl Hunting Daily Use Permit on their person.
    • On Tuesdays and Wednesdays, non-restricted permits are available at the parking area at the end of Cypert Road (south of headquarters), the east end of Jones Island Road (Cypert Tract) and boat ramps A and B. Hunters are not restricted to designated locations on these days.
    • On Saturdays and Sundays, a limited number of permits will be available by drawing. Permits will be for designated locations. The permit drawing will take place at the area headquarters two hours before legal shooting time. There may be a total of four hunters per party for each designated hole drawn.
      NOTE: On-site permit draws will be suspended on Saturdays and Sundays when the White River at Georgetown reaches 19 feet and will be reinstated when the same gauge reads 17.5 feet. The WMA remains open to hunting during this time, but hunters are not restricted to designated locations and may use the same non-restricted permits as on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
    • Five permits, one mobility-impaired blind permit and one youth blind permit will be available through online drawing. 
      • Each hunt period must be applied for separately.
      • Hunting parties must not exceed four people.
      • Holes 1, 5, 8, 10 and 18 are for use by the general public and are drawn for Saturdays and Sundays only. 
      • Hole 7 is for mobility-impaired hunters only and is drawn for Saturdays, Sundays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
      • Hole 21 is for youth hunters only and is drawn for Saturdays, Sundays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
        • Drawings for Hole 21 are for youth hunters, but all members of a hunting party can hunt (youth hunters and mentors).
        • No more than one adult mentor per youth is allowed.
        • Adult mentors (except veterans) cannot hunt during the statewide youth waterfowl hunt.
    • All permits must be carried while hunting, completed and returned to the collection box at the end of the hunt.
    • Permits are not required during the Youth Waterfowl Hunt except for the youth blind permitted hole.

WRICE Program Private Land Fields (Click for map of available locations) 

  • WRICE Program fields are private land that have been leased by the AGFC for increased waterfowl habitat and hunting opportunity, please treat them as though they were your own.
  • Hunting is allowed by drawn permit each weekend of regular duck season only.
  • Hunt periods include consecutive Saturday and Sunday (full weekend).
  • Each hunt period must be applied for separately.
  • Applications will be accepted online for each hunt period from Thursday through Sunday of the weekend immediately preceding the hunt. Permits will be drawn and winners notified via email the Monday preceding the hunt.
  • Permit winners may have up to three guests with them for a maximum party size of four hunters. 
  • These are agricultural lands with little to no hunting blinds in place. Hunters are encouraged to bring their own layout blind or materials to craft a portable, temporary blind for their hunt. 
  • Each field is listed by the county where it is located and the nearest town.
  • Hunters may not access the property except on the days of their hunt, scouting by the roadside with binoculars is recommended. 
  • Hunting is allowed from one-half hour before sunrise until noon. Hunters must be off the property by 1 p.m. each hunt day.

Sheffield Nelson Dagmar WMA Conway George Tract

  • The Conway George Tract is closed to all access from Nov. 16 through Feb. 2, except youth waterfowl permit holders
  • Hunting is allowed in designated locations through online permit lottery.
  • Four hunters per party are allowed in each drawn location.
  • Drawings are for youth hunters, but all members of a hunting party can hunt (youth hunters and mentors).
  • No more than one adult mentor per youth hunter is allowed.
  • Hunting is allowed from one-half hour before sunrise to sunset.
  • Hunt periods include consecutive Saturday and Sunday (full weekend).
  • Each hunt period must be applied for separately.
  • Adult mentors (except veterans) may not hunt during statewide watefowl youth hunt.

Freddie Black Choctaw Island WMA and Deer Research Area West Unit Youth Hunts

  • Hunts begin in December.
  • The West Unit is closed to waterfowl hunting, except youth waterfowl hunters and their mentors who successfully draw a permit for a draw hunt through the AGFC's online license draw system.  
    • Hunt periods include a consecutive Saturday and Sunday (full weekend).
    • Each hunt period must be applied for separately.
    • Drawings are for youth hunters, but all members of a hunting party may hunt.
    • No more than one adult mentor per youth hunter is allowed.
    • Hunting parties must not exceed four people.
    • Hunting is allowed from one-half hour before sunrise to sunset.
    • Adult mentors (except veterans) may not hunt during the statewide youth waterfowl hunt.
