2026-27 Deer

Deer Archery: Aug. 29-31 (one antlered buck only); Sept. 26-Feb. 28.
Deer Alternative Firearms (permit required): Oct. 17-21.
Deer Modern Gun (permit required): Nov. 14-18.
Deer Modern Gun Youth Hunts: Nov. 7-8 and Jan. 2-3.

WMA Deer Bag Limit: Three deer, no more than two antlered bucks (3-Point Rule applies), which may include:

  • Two antlered bucks with archery,
  • Three antlerless deer with archery,
  • One antlered buck or one antlerless deer with alternative firearms permit,
  • One antlered buck or one antlerless deer with modern gun permit.
  • During youth hunt, youths may take two deer, one antlered buck (no antler restrictions) and one antlerless deer.

2025-26 Waterfowl

Waterfowl Notes:

  • No boats allowed Nov. 15-21, Dec. 2-9 and Dec. 24-26.
  • No boats allowed from 1 p.m. to 4 a.m. Nov. 22-Dec. 1, Dec. 10-23 and Dec. 27-Jan. 30 on open hunting days. No boats allowed on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from Nov. 24-Jan. 30.
  • Boats allowed from 1-6:30 p.m. Jan. 31 and Feb. 7-8.
  • From Nov. 22 – Dec. 1, 2025; Dec. 10 – Dec. 23, 2025; Dec. 27, 2025 – Jan. 31, 2026, Red Cut Slough Tract on Cypress Bayou WMA is open for waterfowl hunting only on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, Sundays, and the last day of regular duck season. Anyone entering flooded areas must have a signed Cypress Bayou Waterfowl Hunting Daily Use Permit on their person.
  • On Tuesdays and Thursdays,  non-restricted permits are available at the parking area. Hunters are not restricted to designated locations on these days. Hunters must complete the top portion of the permit and deposit it into the collection box on the side of the kiosk. Hunters must sign and keep in their possession the bottom portion of the permit while waterfowl hunting. This portion must be completed and placed in the collection box once the hunt is complete. On Saturdays, Sundays, and the last day of regular duck season, a limited number of permits will be available by online drawing. Permits will be for designated locations. There may be a total of four hunters per party for each location drawn. All members of each hunting party must hunt within immediate proximity of each other.
    • Applications will be accepted online for each hunt period from 3 p.m. Thursday through midnight Sunday of the weekend immediately preceding the hunt. Permits will be drawn and winners notified via email the Monday preceding the hunt. Visit www.agfc.com and click on “GET A LICENSE” to apply.
  • Permits are not required during the Youth/Veteran Waterfowl Hunt.

About the Name

Cypress Bayou WMA is named after the bayou that flows through the area.

Camping

Camping is not allowed on the WMA.

Description

Cypress Bayou WMA encompasses 1,503 acres in northern Lonoke and southern White counties. The management area was acquired through the Farmers Home Administration program in 1989 and most of the area was reforested with mixed hardwood species in the early 1990s.

Recreation Other Than Hunting

A small 6-acre pond is adjacent to the parking on Arkansas Highway 31, and provides fishing opportunities for bream, catfish and bass.

Restaurants and Other Facilities

The city of Beebe is about 8 miles north and provides lodging and restaurant accommodations.
