LITTLE ROCK — Country music’s man of the marsh, Riley “The Duckman” Green, and a few of his fellow singers and songwriters are cranking up the sound at the Duckman Jam Nov. 22 at Simmons Bank Arena in Little Rock, and you could find yourself backstage with a VIP experience by simply sharing your favorite family hunting story with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission.
Between now and midnight, Nov. 12, anyone can submit their favorite story from the woods or waters of Arkansas and include a few pictures of their outdoor adventure at the following link: Duckman Jam Legacy Hunts Contest. The staff at the AGFC will pick their favorite and announce the winner in time for you to get dressed in your favorite casual camo and join the celebration in Arkansas’s capital city.
This is the second annual Duckman Jam, with the first being hosted at the Flora-Bama in Pensacola, Florida, in April 2024. For its second year, Green and the gang moved it to Arkansas, the duck hunting capital of the world, and the AGFC hopes it finds a permanent home as a new Natural State duck season tradition.
“Arkansas Game and Fish Commission is excited to play a role in support of Ducks Unlimited and the Duckman Jam,” AGFC Director Doug Schoenrock said. “Riley Green is a great ambassador of the outdoors, conservation and duck hunting, and this awesome event will be impactful in supporting conservation efforts in Arkansas.”
According to Adam Putnam, chief executive officer for Ducks Unlimited, the Duckman Jam event isn’t just about celebrating Arkansas’s duck season, which opens the day of the concert; it’s a great way to contribute to wetland conservation right here in The Natural State.
“Proceeds from the event will go to the greentree reservoir habitat renovations in eastern Arkansas,” Putnam said. “DU works with the AGFC to acquire grants that fuel wetland conservation in the state, and this money will add to that effort and the flooded timber that hunters travel to Arkansas to experience.”
Green has always been an outspoken proponent of hunting and conservation, and his passion for duck hunting, in particular, has led to his “Duckman” moniker. The event is a platform for him to contribute to waterfowl and wetland conservation through public awareness as well as much-needed funding.
“He actually came to us with the idea to host an event and raise money for wetland conservation,” Putnam said. “He’s just a huge duck hunter and a huge DU supporter. He’s been on the (Ducks Unlimited podcast) a couple of times and wants to give back to something he loves.”
Schoenrock and Putnam said the Legacy Hunts Contest is only one of many extra gifts Green has given through the Duckman Jam this year.
“There are a few other opportunities to have a VIP experience with Green at the Jam, including a raffle being held through DU’s social media platforms,” Putnam said.
Duck season in Arkansas is Nov. 22-Dec. 1, Dec. 10-23, and Dec. 27-Jan. 31. Visit www.agfc.com/waterfowl for more information on duck hunting in Arkansas.
