PARIS, Arkansas — The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission will travel to Mount Magazine State Park Lodge to conduct its monthly meeting next Wednesday and Thursday.

The two-day meeting will consist of briefings held Wednesday and the official business meeting of the Commission on Thursday.

On Wednesday, the Commission is expected to hear an update on the public comment survey concerning regulations changes for hunting, fishing and general wildlife regulations.

They also are expected to hear an update on the Wildlife Diversity and State Wildlife Grants to help species of greatest conservation need in The Natural State. Updates on the agency’s Recreational Shooting Division and Fishing in The Natural State program also will be presented, as well as a presentation on a resident angler survey being conducted by the AGFC.

On Thursday, the Commission is expected to hear an update on Arkansas’s black bear program from program coordinator Myron Means. The reintroduction of black bears in Arkansas is considered the most successful reintroduction of a large carnivore in North America, and the recent reopening of bear seasons in south Arkansas exemplifies the continued success of the project.

A second staff update for commissioners Thursday will highlight the progress of the agency’s Conservation Incentive Program, a pilot project launched in January to add incentives for private landowners to improve wildlife habitat and access to their property.
