AGFC upgrades Little Rock destination with informative artwork

LITTLE ROCK — Hikers, cyclists and other outdoors enthusiasts in central Arkansas may notice a few changes along their favorite path from Two Rivers Park in Little Rock to downtown North Little Rock. The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission recently completed updating 13 signs along the Arkansas RiverTrail to freshen up the artwork and ensure all information on the signs is up-to-date.

“It’s been 13 years since we placed the original signs on the Arkansas RiverTrail with cooperation from the cities of Little Rock and North Little Rock,” AGFC Watchable Wildlife Program Coordinator Kirsten Bartlow said. “With the amount of traffic the trail gets, we wanted to make sure people were able to enjoy their walk or bicycle ride a little more and maybe connect with nature on their path.”

The Arkansas River Trail welcomes thousands of pedestrians and cyclists each month with scenic views of the Arkansas River and a variety of parks and natural settings right in the heart of Downtown Little Rock. The 88-mile on-street loop is complemented by more than 15 miles of dedicated bicycle and pedestrian trails stretching across Arkansas’s capital city and beyond. The Big Dam Bridge over Murray Lock and Dam, Clinton Presidential Park Bridge and Two Rivers Bridge all offer access across the Arkansas River and provide key focal points for cyclists and day hikers interested in a day outdoors.

The AGFC’s Watchable Wildlife Program delivers special opportunities throughout Arkansas for people of any age group to enjoy watching wildlife in a natural setting. Nature trails, auto tours and floating and paddling trails called Water Trails offer many avenues for birdwatchers, anglers and other outdoors enthusiasts to explore their favorite passion.
