AGFC approves emergency closure of WMAs during feral hog removal operations

LITTLE ROCK – The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission has approved emergency closures of portions of Trusten Holder, Seven Devils, Cut-off Creek and Big Lake wildlife management areas next week. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service Wildlife Services, in cooperation with the AGFC, will be conducting aerial gunning operations on the WMAs aimed at reducing feral hog populations on the WMAs.
Aerial operations are scheduled to begin Feb. 26 and continue through March 2. Public safety during the flights is the primary concern for the temporary closures.
The scheduled closures are planned on the following dates and locations:
- Trusten Holder Wildlife Management Area
- Dates: Tuesday, Feb. 27 through Thursday, March 1, 2018;
- Times: Daylight hours (7 a.m.-7 p.m.)
- Seven Devils Wildlife Management Area
- Dates: Tuesday, Feb. 27 through Thursday, March 1, 2018;
- Times: Daylight hours (7 a.m.-7 p.m.)
- Cut-off Creek Wildlife Management Area
- Dates: Tuesday, Feb. 27 through Thursday, March 1, 2018;
- Times: Daylight hours (7 a.m.-7 p.m.)
- Big Lake Wildlife Management Area
- Dates: Monday, Feb. 26 and Friday March 2, 2018;
- Times: Daylight hours (7 a.m.-7 p.m.)
