Spring River

Background

The AGFC manages the Spring River trout fishery from 100 yards below Dam #1 at Mammoth Spring State Park to the mouth of Myatt Creek in Fulton County, Arkansas (~12 mi). Mammoth Spring releases approximately 9.8 million gallons per hour of 58°F water into a 10-acre lake maintained by Dam #1. Generally, discharge on Spring River ranges between 206-694 cfs and river stage height ranges from approximately 4.0-5.3 ft. The U.S. Geological Survey monitors spring discharge, river stage, and precipitation via two gages located at Mammoth Spring and downstream of Dam #3 (USGS gage IDs – 07069190 and 07069220).
