LITTLE ROCK – Dove hunters searching for a place to hunt still have a few days to scout some fields for opening weekend, but the clock is ticking. In case you haven’t been able to find a location through private fields, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission prepares a few locations on public land for hunters who want to enjoy a first shot at the season.

LITTLE ROCK — Arkansans looking for adventure in the wetlands may want to call a friend in south Arkansas to see if there’s an opportunity to take part in this year’s private land alligator hunt Sept. 17-20 and Sept. 24-27. While public hunting opportunities have all been awarded through the AGFC’s draw process in July, private land hunting for alligators follows a quota system that offers more opportunities for people who weren’t lucky enough to draw a public hunting permit.

LITTLE ROCK — The drawing for the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s private land dove field program is complete, but if you did not draw there’s still plenty of opportunity to enjoy some time sitting on a bucket at a good location on opening weekend of dove season. The AGFC has dove fields on 22 wildlife management areas throughout the state and has worked with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to provide another on the Cache River National Wildlife Refuge for the 2020-21 dove season.

LITTLE ROCK – Thanks to federal money through the Pittman-Robertson Act, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission has been able to add nearly 6,000 acres to its wildlife management system in time for the 2018 hunting seasons and for other recreational use.
