LITTLE ROCK — The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission will host fishing derbies throughout the state Sept. 18 in celebration of Arkansas Hunting and Fishing Week.

BENTON — A recent partnership between the City of Benton’s Parks and Recreation Department and the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission may provide a template for success in introducing youth to the joys of angling in Arkansas. Four groups of children, aged 4 through 13, and their parents all had the opportunity to participate in a special multi-class fishing program at Benton’s River Center recreation complex.

MAUMELLE — Join the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s Family and Community Fishing Program in Maumelle for a fishing derby focused on the “well seasoned” anglers. A special fishing event will be held from 9 a.m. until noon, Sept. 10, at Lake Valencia for any angler 50 years and older.

REDFIELD — Join the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission for a fishing event at 9 a.m., June 26 as we celebrate the latest addition to the Family and Community Fishing Program, Redfield City Park. LITTLE ROCK — The cats with the tags are back, and this year, they’ll be swimming in Boyle Park Pond just in time for The Big Catch, a community fishing event and health fair on May 22 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Participants can win prizes, enjoy music and some much needed fresh air in addition to the free fishing fun, courtesy of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and Community First Alliance.
