LITTLE ROCK — Governor Asa Hutchinson appointed Philip Tappan as the newest member of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission at a special announcement July 1 at the Witt Stephens Jr. Central Arkansas Nature Center. Tappan replaces exiting Chairman Andrew Parker.

LITTLE ROCK – Governor Asa Hutchinson has appointed Little Rock businessman Philip Tappan to the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. Mr. Tappan will replace Andrew Parker, whose seven-year term expires today.

Andrew Parker says his style as an Arkansas Game and Fish Commissioner during the last seven years was more like a counselor, gently bending an ear and offering suggestions to the chairman at that time or other commissioners.
Former Arkansas Game and Fish Commissioners, staff to be inducted into Arkansas Waterfowler Hall of Fame

STUTTGART - Former AGFC Commissioner W.R. “Witt” Stephens Jr. and former AGFC Biologist and Assistant Director Carl Hunter will be added into the Arkansas Waterfowler Hall of Fame in an induction ceremony September 23 at Chenal Country Club in Little Rock. Members of the 2020 class also will be recognized as COVID-19 forced the cancellation of last year’s event.

FAYETTEVILLE — Former Arkansas Game and Fish Commissioner William Nelson "Bill" Ackerman died June 15 at his Fayetteville home. He was born Dec. 15, 1935.

LITTLE ROCK — The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission voted unanimously at today’s meeting to authorize the agency’s director to enter into a 10-year cooperative agreement with Arkansas State University to manage a 160-acre tract bordering Cypress Bayou WMA in White County and allow public hunting access to that property under the current regulations of the wildlife management area.
