Sunset Lake surrenders a 10-pound largemouth bass

BENTON – It almost seems like one of those great upsets that occasionally occurs in sports: Small Sunset Lake recently produced a whopping 10-pound black bass. Fact is, however, it’s a testament to what can happen when the right fish genetics and nature come together, even in a 28-acre lake.

AGFC gives Tri-County Lake jetties some depth

FORDYCE — Contractors with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission completed a major project at Mike Knoedl Tri-County Lake in Calhoun County in December, improving fishing access and fish habitat on the popular 280-acre lake in south-central Arkansas.

The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, along with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service trout hatcheries and other partners, delivered more than 12.5 million fish to Arkansas waters during 2021.

MONTICELLO — After two years of drawdowns and construction work, the city of Monticello was able to close the gates at its namesake lake in Drew County last week, hoping to see the fish and recreational opportunities in the reservoir flourish again once the lake refills.
