June 19-20, Committee Meetings and Commission Meeting in Little Rock


The regular monthly meeting of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission will be held beginning at 9:00 a.m. Thursday, June 20, 2019, at the Little Rock Office Complex, 2 Natural Resources Drive, Little Rock, AR 72205. At that time, regulations and business pertaining to the operation of the Game and Fish Commission and other fiscal and administrative matters will be considered and acted upon, and all interested persons are invited to attend. Additionally, Committee meetings attended by Commissioners and agency staff members will be held throughout the day on Wednesday, June 19, 2019, beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the same location, and all interested persons are invited to attend.

Items on the agenda for the June 20, 2019, meeting will include discussion of proposed regulations that previously were considered at the May 16, 2018, Commission Meeting, plus consideration of various Hunting and Fishing Regulations and regulations pertaining to the Enforcement Division of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, including but not limited to:

  1. Hunting and Fishing License Requirements for Disabled Veterans – Amend existing regulations to: revise the “Disabled Veteran” definition; amend fishing license and hunting license requirements affecting Disabled Veterans; and create the addition of a Resident Disabled Military Veteran Lifetime Combination License at a cost of $52.50 for any resident disabled veteran who has: (1) a service-connected disability rating of seventy-percent (70%) or higher; or (2) a service-connected disability rating of fifty percent (50%) or higher and is a recipient of the Purple Heart medal. The lifetime combination hunting and fishing license will include a lifetime trout stamp and lifetime state duck stamp.  
  2. Captive Wildlife Regulations – Amend existing regulations for captive wildlife to: add approximately 104 wildlife species (including birds, turtles, etc.) to the Unrestricted Captive Wildlife Species List; add approximately 486 species (including mammals, birds, venomous snakes, turtles, toads, etc.) to the Permitted Captive Wildlife Species List; and authorize the Director to extend current Wildlife Breeder/Dealer Permits and Wildlife Importation Permits for up to 90 days from the permit expiration date of June 30, 2019, for those permittees authorized to import, breed or sell certain mammal species (including zebra, water buffalo, addax, aoudad sheep, brindled gnu, gaur, oryx, capybara, leopard, jaguar, hippopotamus, warthogs, rhinoceros, gerenuk, Himalayan tahr goat, impala, kudu, lechwe, ibex and nilgai).
  3. 2019-20 Waterfowl Hunting Regulations – Amend existing regulations for Non-Resident Waterfowl Hunting Permit Requirements on WMAs to replace the existing 27 WMA-specific, 5-day permits for non-resident WMA waterfowl hunting with a single, general 5-day permit that must be possessed by non-resident hunters while taking or attempting to take waterfowl on any WMA. No change will be made to the existing permit fee ($30.50).

All persons wishing to be heard on these subjects should submit comments in writing to this office before the start of the June 20, 2019, meeting (preferably by 4:30 p.m. on the day before). Any request to make an oral presentation at the meeting should be submitted in writing to this office on or before June 10, 2019.
