Launched in 1971 by Congress, NHF Day has consistently recognized hunters and anglers for their leadership in wildlife and conservation. NHF Day is observed and celebrated the fourth Saturday in September every year.
National Hunting and Fishing Day focuses on raising public awareness about the importance of the wise use of natural resources, promoting wildlife conversation and outdoor sports. On this day, local, state, regional and national organizations hold fishing- and hunting-related events providing participants with an opportunity to experience traditional outdoor sports.
All activities are free. Participants must register onsite.
This five-part challenge includes:
- BB guns
- Baitcasting
- NASP-style archery
- 3D archery
- Slingshots
Awards will be given to top scores for grades 1-3, 4-6, 7-9 and 10-12 at each facility and top contestants statewide. Contestants must complete all marksmanship activities by 2 p.m. to enter.
Youngsters must be accompanied by adults. All equipment is provided.
