Bringing Outdoor Safety Education to Arkansans

AGFC and Electric Cooperative of Arkansas, the Official Outdoor Safety Education Partner of AGFC, are proud to work together to elevate outdoor recreation safety across The Natural State. 

Safety is the cornerstone of enjoying the outdoors at all ages. While hunter and boater education has continuously highlighted safety, the use of ATVs and ATV-related accidents has ushered a new leaf to Outdoor Safety Education. Arkansas has suffered high youth ATV/UTV accident rates, often occurring from children operating adult-sized machines, lack of helmet-wearing or multiple riders crowding onto the same vehicle. AGFC and Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas are determined to encourage and lead the next generation in enjoying the outdoors when boating, hunting and riding ATVs. 

With the goal of encouraging responsible, ethical and safe outdoor enthusiasts across Arkansas, the Arkansas Outdoor Safety Graduation Cord program was created to instill these values at an early age. High school seniors who demonstrate a superior commitment to responsible recreation by completing certifications in Hunter Education, Boater Education and the ATV Safety Education program will earn the opportunity to purchase a Jostens™ cord to be worn at their graduation ceremony.

Cords are not paid for by AGFC or Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas. Each school or student is responsible for the purchase of their cord and can be purchased from their school’s Jostens™ representative.
