Young deer, other wildlife likely not abandoned

LITTLE ROCK — Each spring hundreds of Arkansans likely stumble upon a small batch of rabbits, a helpless looking fawn or other young animals that’s been seemingly abandoned. The first temptation is to scoop these “defenseless” creatures up and try to find someone to care for them, but that may be the worst thing a person can do for that animal’s welfare.

Big Timber WMA addition expands leased land program for hunters

AMITY - Southwest Arkansas has one of the most dense deer populations of anywhere in the state, and finding public access in this part of Arkansas is much easier thanks to special leased lands opportunities offered by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. This year, an additional spur of 3,500 acres is available near the town of Amity, to help hunters find a tree for their deer stand.

LITTLE ROCK - Sitting in a deer stand or chasing a wise old gobbler may be comfortable as a solo endeavor, and when silence is the name of the game, many hunters prefer to go it alone. On the other end of the spectrum are dove and duck hunts, where groups of up to 10 hunters in a single set are not uncommon. Somewhere in between, you’ll find folks who favor some quiet conversation in the squirrel woods.
