GENTRY – Soutwestern Electric Power Company announced this morning that SWEPCO Lake in Benton County will be closed to all boats and fishing Monday-Friday, Oct. 5-9, 2020.

The closure is a precaution for public safety during a maintenance project on high voltage overhead transmission lines across the lake, which is the cooling reservoir for SWEPCO’s Flint Creek Power Plant.

The public boat ramp and fishing pier at Cripps Road (County Road 487) will be closed to all traffic during the lake closure.

The closure dates are weather permitting. Any changes will be communicated by social media by SWEPCO and the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission.

SWEPCO, an American Electric Power (AEP: NYSE) company, serves more than 543,000 customers in northwest and central Louisiana, northeast Texas and the Texas Panhandle, and western Arkansas. SWEPCO’s headquarters are in Shreveport, La. Contact Peter Main at SWEPCO Corporate Communications (479) 973-2020 for more information.

Courtesy dock and ramp are both closed for public safety during the power line maintenance.
