Specially tagged trout filling AGFC’s stockings this winter

LITTLE ROCK — One of the annual traditions at the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission is the yearly stocking of rainbow trout to Family and Community Fishing Program locations from November through February. Another tradition is to add special prize-winning tags to randomly selected fish in these stockings for anglers to enjoy even more.

Greenbrier, Beebe ponds join AGFC Family and Community Program roster

LITTLE ROCK – Two locations have been added to the lineup of ponds in the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s Family and Community Fishing Program, bringing the total number of ponds statewide to 49. Also, a new Geographic Information System mapping tool has been added to the AGFC’s website that will make it easy to find all 49 statewide ponds.

Canceled hatchery fishing derbies result in bonus catfish stockings throughout Arkansas

LITTLE ROCK — Precautions to limit the spread of the virus that causes COVID-19 have forced the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission to cancel the annual fishing derbies held at its five fish hatcheries in June, but anglers throughout the state will still be able to enjoy some quality time chasing catfish. AGFC hatcheries are delivering thousands of pounds of catchable-sized catfish to small, publicly accessible ponds throughout Arkansas to prepare for Free Fishing Weekend, June 12-14.
