Comment on proposed changes to Arkansas hunting, wildlife regulations by April 15

LITTLE ROCK — Although the recent outbreak of COVID-19 and measures to combat it have changed the way the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission has had to meet, conservation carries on. With the absence of a March meeting and an online-only meeting anticipated in April, AGFC staff have moved forward with a public comment survey to gather public input on changes needed for the 2020-21 hunting season.

Commission authorizes more than $554,000 for Arkansas boating access improvements

LITTLE ROCK – The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission unanimously authorized $554,800 from the state’s Marine Fuel Tax program to be used for repairs and upgrades to boat ramps and access points throughout Arkansas at its meeting today.

Triple Trophy Award available to deer hunters

LITTLE ROCK – The 2019-20 Arkansas deer seasons are winding to a close, and only a few stalwart archers are still looking for a last-minute harvest before their Feb. 29 deadline. But there’s plenty of time for successful hunters to submit an application for the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s Triple Trophy Award.

AGFC holds CWD public meeting in Batesville Jan. 30

BATESVILLE — The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission will hold a public meeting to discuss the recent discovery of chronic wasting disease in Independence County at the University of Arkansas Community College, Room 902 of the Nursing and Allied Health Building in Batesville at 6 p.m. Jan. 30. The college is at 2005 White Drive.

Arkansas Game and Fish Foundation unveils new Kids Zone at the 30th annual Arkansas Big Buck Classic

LITTLE ROCK — The Arkansas Game and Fish Foundation will host a free Kids Zone at the 30th annual Arkansas Big Buck Classic Jan. 24-26. The Kids Zone will be housed in the Farm and Ranch Building of the Arkansas State Fairgrounds and will be open during the entire event.

Commission hears 2019 elk, bear harvest reports

LITTLE ROCK – Arkansas’s bear and elk harvests showed slight declines during the 2019 season, but biologists with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission said much of the decrease could be attributed to last year’s extremely productive hard mast crop during presentations to Commissioners at today’s regularly scheduled meeting here.

AGFC seeks public input on deer management plan revision

LITTLE ROCK — Biologists with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission are seeking public input on the current revision to Arkansas’s White-tailed Deer Strategic Management Plan. This is the first review and revision of the plan since 2013.
