Quail Habitat Field Workshop for Landowners | March 31 (Warren)

March 31, 2018

Join biologists from Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and Quail Forever Saturday, March 31, for a tour of Warren Prairie Natural Area WMA to learn about proper northern bobwhite habitat in southern Arkansas and how you can create bobwhite habitat on your property.

Situated just east of Warren in Drew and Bradley Counties. Warren Prairie Natural Area has many types of habitat to benefit a broad range of animals, including the endangered red-cockaded woodpecker. Woodlands, savannas and barrens all contribute to a variety of plant life that excel at offering the many types of cover and food northern bobwhite need through the year.

Landowners will get a first-hand view of these different types of habitat and will have the opportunity to ask questions and learn how to achieve similar results on their own property. Experts from the AGFC and QF also will be available to talk about possible programs to offset the costs of re-establishing high-quality habitat on their property.

Tour participants will meet at the USDA office in Monticello at 419 West Gaines Street, Monticello, and will carpool from there to Warren Prairie. Bring boots, cameras, lunch, water, and be ready for an adventure. Call Austin Klais, QF Farm Bill wildlife biologist, at 501-425-1985 for more information and to register.
