Monthly Commission Meeting | July 17-18 (Little Rock)

LEGAL NOTICE

The regular monthly meeting of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission will be held beginning at 9:00 a.m. Thursday, July 18, 2019, at the Little Rock Office Complex, 2 Natural Resources Drive, Little Rock, AR 72205. At that time, regulations and business pertaining to the operation of the Game and Fish Commission and other fiscal and administrative matters will be considered and acted upon, and all interested persons are invited to attend. Additionally, Committee meetings attended by Commissioners and agency staff members will be held throughout the day on Wednesday, July 17, 2019, beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the same location, and all interested persons are invited to attend. Items on the agenda for the July 17 and 18, 2019 meetings will include discussion of proposed regulations that previously were considered at the June 20, 2018 Commission Meeting, plus consideration of various Hunting and Fishing Regulations and regulations pertaining to the Enforcement Division of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission.

All persons wishing to be heard on the above subjects should submit comments in writing to this office before the start of the July 18, 2019 meeting (preferably by 4:30 p.m. on the day before). Any request to make an oral presentation at the July 18, 2019 meeting should be submitted in writing to this office on or before July 8, 2019.

Additionally, a special meeting of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission will be held beginning at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 25, 2019, at the Little Rock Office Complex, 2 Natural Resources Drive, Little Rock, AR 72205. Items on the agenda for the July 25, 2019 meeting will include consideration of various Hunting and Fishing Regulations and regulations pertaining to the Enforcement Division of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, including but not limited to:

Furbearer Hunting and Trapping Regulations – Amend existing regulations for hunting and trapping furbearing animals, including, but not limited to season dates, bag limits, weapon restrictions, and other manner-of-taking-game requirements for furbearers (badger, beaver, bobcat, coyote, gray fox, red fox, mink, muskrat, nutria, opossum, raccoon, river otter, spotted skunk, striped skunk and weasel). Changes to hunting regulations include, but are not limited to:

  • Extend general hunting season dates for raccoon, opossum, striped skunk, and coyote, and increase daily limits for striped skunk and opossum;
  • Increase daily limits on wildlife management areas for opossum and striped skunk;
  • Amend existing codes prohibiting the wasting of edible or marketable portions of wildlife, prohibiting hunting in a closed season, and prohibiting night hunting to provide exception for raccoon, opossum, and nuisance wildlife taken in compliance with a Predator Control Permit; and
  • Establish a Predator Control Permit requirement to make unlawful the taking of bobcat, coyote, gray fox, red fox, raccoon, opossum, and striped skunk on private lands outside of an established hunting or trapping season without obtaining a Predator Control Permit and complying with the terms and conditions of such permit. The proposed Predator Control Permit will be free.

Any request to make an oral presentation at the July 25, 2019 meeting should be submitted in writing to this office on or before July 15, 2019.
