Wildlife Management - Threatened and Endangered Species
Since the adoption of Amendment 35 in 1944, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission has made great strides in wildlife management and conservation. The success of these programs relies on many activities, including habitat protection, fisheries and wildlife management, and first-class training of enforcement personnel.
Arkansas has seen great change since it was settled, but the diversity of its natural regions still offers a wide range of opportunities to watch wildlife in unspoiled settings. As you travel the state, pause long enough to notice changes in elevation, slope, moisture and temperature, all of which have a profound impact on the plant and animal communities you might see.
Learn about the animals that call Arkansas home. Use the snake pictures to identify different snakes you might encounter, learn about our threatened and endangered species, find a wildlife rehabilitator in your area or just browse through pictures of the critters you might encounter.
