Broad-winged Hawk

Medium-sized hawk with broad black and white bands on tail.  Wings are broad with white underneath and black tipped. Adult birds are dark brown above with reddish-brown barring underneath. 

The common call of this hawk is a very high-pitched whistle with a short "sigeeee". 

This hawk is known for their migrations which includes flocks containing thousands of birds.
