Leased Land Permits
Permits are available for $20 and entitle the holder to hunt, trap and camp on the leased lands listed below.
A permit is not required to use state or county roads. Youths under 16 are not required to have a permit. Permits are valid for one year from the date of purchase. Maps of leased properties are provided when permits are purchased.
Permit holders should be aware that forest management activities may be taking place throughout the year. Permit holders enter these properties at their own risk.
Some areas have limited access. It is the hunter's responsibility to obtain permission from landowners to travel through neighboring private lands when accessing these areas.
Horses and mules may only be used on Cherokee and Jim Kress WMAs for hunting purposes during open hunting seasons. Recreational riding is allowed when hunting seasons are closed. The recreational use of ATVs, motorcycles, bicycles and Off-road vehicles is prohibited. All vehicular traffic is restricted to open, maintained roads and trails. No off-road travel is permitted.
Seasonally closed access gates have been established on Cherokee and Jim Kress WMAs which are opened one week before muzzleloader season and closed two weeks after the Christmas gun hunt. Walk-in access is allowed when the gates are closed.
