Bayou Meto WMA

The daily bag limit for ducks is four (no more than three mallards, two of which may be hens, one pintail, one canvasback, one mottled duck, two scaup, three wood ducks, two redheads and one black duck). Daily limit of four mergansers, which may include no more than two hooded mergansers.
Boat motors larger than 25 horsepower and airboats may not be used. No boats allowed on the Government Cypress Greentree Reservoir within Bayou Meto WMA. No boats allowed from 1 p.m.-4 a.m. during the duck season except as follows: (1) during the last three days of the last duck season and during the special youth waterfowl hunts when boats may be used from 4 a.m.-6:30 p.m. daily, (2) boating access during the duck season only from noon-6:30 p.m. at the following streams; Mulberry Access (includes all of the Salt Bayou Ditch to the confluence of Little Bayou Meto) and Buckingham Flats Access (includes Big Bayou Meto, and Cannon Brake Access to include Little Bayou Meto only within the Cannon Brake Impoundment).

Mallard Lake is closed to hunting. Fishing and non-hunting activities are allowed.
Any firearm being transported in Ditch 28 must be dismantled or unloaded and cased.
Ungravelled roads are closed to traffic Oct. 1-May 31.

Blinds which have been assigned an ID number on or before June 30, 2006, by the Commission and have been well-constructed in the judgment of the Regional Wildlife Supervisor, may be maintained in compliance with Commission guidelines. Construction of any new blind is prohibited. Blinds that have deteriorated beyond a safe, usable condition in the judgment of the Regional Wildlife Supervisor cannot be rebuilt and may be destroyed by Commission personnel. Existing blinds may not be moved.

Beginning Saturday, December 19, the Freddie Black Choctaw Island WMA and Deer Research Area West Unit will be open for permit youth waterfowl hunts each Saturday for the remainder of waterfowl season. There will be 5 online permits drawn for each Saturday the area is open to waterfowl hunting. Only youth under the age of 16 may apply and a valid hunter education certificate is required to apply. Each successful applicant can bring up to 3 additional youth hunters and must be accompanied by at least 1 supervising adult (per special youth waterfowl hunt guidelines; see page 7). If you would like to be considered for the December (December 19 and 26) hunts, please apply by November 24. If you would like to be considered for the January (January 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30) hunts, please apply by December 26. The successful draw notification will serve as the successful applicants entry permit, and a printed copy is required to enter any flooded or inundated area during the waterfowl season. Apply for online permit. Computer drawn permit holders should pick up an area map at the parking lot/headquarters that will denote duck hole locations along with directions to the individual duck holes. Proper signage will be in place to direct hunting parties to their appropriate duck hole. ATVs may be used for travel to duck holes and back from parking lot access only.
Waterfowl hunters may not enter inundated areas before 4 a.m., stop hunting by 12:00 noon and be off the area by 1:00 p.m.

Steve N. Wilson Raft Creek Bottoms WMA will be open for a permit waterfowl hunt on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays during waterfowl season. The permit drawing will take place at the area headquarters two hours before official shooting begins. There will also be five permits along with one mobility-impaired blind permit (a valid Mobility-Impaired Access Permit is required to apply) drawn online each day the area is open for waterfowl hunting. If you plan to hunt in November, please apply for the day in which you intend to hunt by Nov. 11. If you plan to hunt in December please apply by Nov. 25, and if you plan to hunt in January please apply by Dec. 29. Apply for online permit. The permit is required to enter any flooded or inundated area during waterfowl season. Computer drawn permit holders must check in prior to the official draw (two hours before legal shooting hours) at area headquarters to claim their computer drawn duck hole. If a drawn hunter does not check-in, their hole number will become available for hunting and added to the list for on-site drawings.
