Does AGFC stock turkeys on private lands?
Answer
Turkey stocking in Arkansas is complete and no new stockings will take place. Natural dispersal and contraction of the population will occur. The best way to improve landowners odds of attracting turkeys to their property is through appropriate habitat management. Private landowners can contact their respective Private Lands Biologist to obtain a habitat management plan.
When is the drawing for the spring turkey permit hunt?
Answer
Applications are available Dec. 15-Jan. 15 each year. The drawing and notifications take placeĀ in February. Permit winners must pay a $10 processing fee to receive their permits. Leftover permits are sold online.
I failed to submit a turkey permit application. Will there be some for sale if any are left?
Answer
Leftover WMA turkey hunting permits are sold online once all permit winners have had ample time to purchase their permits. The leftovers are sold on a first-come, first-served basis at a set time announced each year.
