Does AGFC stock turkeys on private lands?
Yes we do stock a few turkeys on private land. Call our turkey program coordinator, 501-223-6359. If the land sounds like it has potential, the coordinator will send an official stocking request form to gather data. Upon return of the form, the site will be evaluated through aerial maps and field visits. The site will be recommended for stocking or not stocking based on criteria on the rating form. If approved, the site will be put on a stocking list and will be stocked as birds become available.
When is the drawing for the spring turkey permit hunt?
Applications are available Dec. 15-Jan. 15 each year. The drawing and notifications take place in February. Permit winners must pay a $10 processing fee to receive their permits. Leftover permits are sold online.
I failed to submit a turkey permit application. Will there be some for sale if any are left?
Leftover WMA turkey hunting permits are sold online once all permit winners have had ample time to purchase their permits. The leftovers are sold on a first-come, first-served basis at a set time announced each year.
