Little Missouri Management Plan
Do you like to fish for trout or in the Little Missouri River below Narrows Dam? Do you like to fish for bass, catfish, or other warmwater fish on downstream? Have you fished in the Little Missouri River and left less than completely satisfied with your experience? Would you fish more often in the Little Missouri River if fishing opportunities were improved in some way? If you would like to have a say in how the fishery is managed in the Little Missouri River below Narrows Dam, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission needs your help.
The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission Trout Management Program has developed a new process for creating management plans for trout fisheries around Arkansas, involving people and anglers interested in helping. Fisheries managers have begun to develop a management plan for the 38 miles of the Little Missouri River from Narrows Dam downstream to Hwy 67 east of Prescott.
A facilitated public workshop was held on November 28th in Murfreesboro and on November 29th in Prescott to gather the thoughts, problems, and desires that folks have with trout fishing in the Little Missouri River. This workshop gave people the opportunity to discuss the trout fishing, access area needs, habitat problems, or anything else they think should be considered in the future of this fishery.
Public Input Results
More than 30 members of the public, total, attended the November workshops. Each evening, after a brief introduction by Darrell Bowman, head of trout program in Arkansas, participants were guided into productive sessions where they were encouraged to provide their ideas on present and future management of the Little Missouri/Narrows Tailwater.

AGFC fishery managers are now working on developing management options for the Little Missouri River. The management options will result from the combination of input from people, and scientific information that has been gathered from the Little Missouri River.
A facilitated workshop for the Little Missouri River was held at 6:30 p.m. January 16th at the Murfreesboro City Hall to get public reaction to and assessment of the management options. Results of the workshop will guide AGFC in the preparation for the final management plan.
