Arkansas Lake Information and Maps

Anglers wishing to enjoy Arkansas' superb fishing locations will find over 600,000 acres of lakes,  more than 9,000 miles of flowing streams and rivers where they can pursue many species of freshwater fish.  Along with the Corps of Engineers lakes as well as privately owned lakes scattered throughout the Natural State are 52 Game and Fish Commission lakes tailor-made for your angling enjoyment.

Plug for largemouths on famous Mallard Lake, or jig for crappies on a cypress-shrouded oxbow.  Sit under a shade tree for some lake-side catfishing, or relax on a fishing pier while the kids dunk a worm for bluegills. It's all here: fishing fun, great scenery, down-home charm and Southern hospitality. And we'd like to share our treasures with you.

In 1945, the Game and Fish Commission initiated its lake construction program with a goal of providing additional fishing opportunities in high-population areas, in areas with few natural fishing waters and in areas where fishing had declined despite abundant fishable waters. Since the program began, the Commission has built 29 lakes throughout the state covering 21,937 acres.

These include five of the largest lakes ever constructed by a state wildlife agency - Lake Conway (6,700 acres), White Oak Lake (2,676 acres), Harris Brake Lake (1,300 acres), Lake Overcup (1,025 acres) and Lake Hinkle (960 acres).

Many additional public fishing lakes are found on the Commission's wildlife management areas. These include 12 naturally-formed oxbow lakes covering 420 acres and 11 man-made lakes covering 2,365 acres.
