Arkansas's trout are produced  by two federal trout hatcheries, one AGFC trout hatchery and three AGFC grow-out facilities.

National Trout Hatcheries

The Norfork National Fish Hatchery is below Norfork Dam. It produces more than 400,000 pounds of trout for distribution in public waters annually. Fish from the Norfork National Fish Hatchery are stocked in the Bull Shoals, Norfork, Greers Ferry and Beaver Tailwaters as well as Blanchard Spring. It also provides 70,000 pounds of rainbow trout for the Jim Hinkle Spring River Hatchery and the Pot Shoals Caged Net Pen Facility.

Greers Ferry National Fish Hatchery is below Greers Ferry Dam. It produces more than 155,000 pounds of trout for the Little Red River and the trout waters in southern Arkansas. It also provides 46,000 pounds of rainbow trout for the Jim Hinkle Spring River Hatchery and the Jim Collins Net Pen Facility.


State Trout Hatcheries and Facilities

  • The Jim Hinkle Spring River State Fish Hatchery produces more than 1 million 11-inch rainbow trout annually. Fish from this hatchery are distributed in the Bull Shoals and Greers Ferry tailwaters, Spring River, Blanchard Spring, South Arkansas trout waters and the Family and Community Fishing Program's seasonal trout ponds.
  • The Pot Shoals Net Pens hold and grow rainbow trout during winter and spring for distribution to the Bull Shoals, Norfork, Beaver and Greers Ferry tailwaters, Bull Shoals Lake, and the Family and Community Fishing Program's seasonal trout ponds. Pot Shoals grows about 155,000 11-inch rainbow trout annually. 
  • The Jim Collins Net Pens hold and grow more than 117,000 11-inch rainbow trout annually. Trout are taken from the net pens in winter and spring and are distributed to South Arkansas trout waters.
  • The Lake Wilhelmina Caged Net Pens cultures 6,600 11-inch rainbow trout annually. These trout are distributed to the Family and Community Fishing Program's seasonal trout ponds in southern and western Arkansas.
