Conservation Scholarship Program - First Time Scholarship Applicants

How do I apply for the AGFC Conservation Scholarship for the first time?

Step 1

 

Fill out all fields of the first time application form.

     

Step 2

 

Include a typewritten response to the questions below on a separate sheet of paper.

  1. Career choice. Explain how your field of study relates to natural resource conservation and your choice as a possible career (150 words or less).

  2. Leadership activities. Please describe your accomplishments in leadership roles. List organizations, dates and offices held. May include conservation and professional organizations as well as school- or community-based activities (200 words or less).

  3. Employment/Volunteer experience. List any outdoor-related work or volunteer experience (100 words or less).

  4. Essay. Please discuss your philosophy of fish and wildlife conservation as it relates to environmental stewardship (300 words or less).

  5. Personal statement. Write a statement directed to the Scholarship Committee, providing information about your career goals (200 words or less).

Step 3

 

Please include the following additional materials to your first time application form:

  1. Three personal references with names, addresses and telephone numbers.

  2. A letter of recommendation from your advisor, counselor or a school faculty member.

  3. An official transcript (High school students must send high school transcripts, college students may submit only college transcripts for consideration.).

  4. A photograph.

  5. Applicants attending two-year colleges must also submit a letter of intent to pursue a four-year degree and a declaration of major.

Completed applications must be postmarked by June 10, 2008, for the fall semester and by February 15, 2008, for the second semester. Successful applicants will be notified by July 15, 2008.
