AGFC Lake Information and Maps

Welcome to the world of Arkansas Game and Fish Commission lakes. We invite you to come enjoy freshwater fishing at its best. Scattered throughout the Natural State are 52 Game and Fish Commission lakes tailor-made for your angling enjoyment. Plug for largemouths on famous Mallard Lake, or jig for crappies on a cypress-shrouded oxbow.

In 1945, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission initiated its lake construction program with a goal of providing additional fishing opportunities in high-population areas, in areas with few natural fishing waters and in areas where fishing had declined despite abundant fishable waters. Since the program began, the Commission has built 29 lakes throughout the state covering 21,937 acres.

These include five of the largest lakes ever constructed by a state wildlife agency - Lake Conway (6,700 acres), White Oak Lake (2,676 acres), Harris Brake Lake (1,300 acres), Lake Overcup (1,025 acres) and Lake Hinkle (960 acres).

Many additional public fishing lakes are found on the Commission's wildlife management areas. These include 12 naturally-formed oxbow lakes covering 420 acres and 11 man-made lakes covering 2,365 acres.
