What is the state's position on venomous snakes? Are they protected? Is it legal to kill snakes?

The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission has adopted and does enforce regulations that generally prohibit the killing of non-game species, including snakes, except under limited circumstances.  Many species of snakes are beneficial to man and the environment and, taken as a whole, snakes, like other wildlife species, are to be conserved and managed on behalf of the people of Arkansas.  The Commission likewise acknowledges that some wildlife, including venomous snakes, can pose a reasonable threat to the health, safety, or welfare of persons or property in certain situations.  See AGFC Code of Regulations, “18.01, Hunting Wildlife in Closed Season Prohibited,” which allows the taking of nongame wildlife (excluding migratory birds and endangered species) which pose reasonable threat or endangerment to persons or property.   http://www.agfc.com/rules-regulations/code-of-regulations.aspx.

I am trying to determine if I need to register a two-man boat. I use an electric trolling motor for power.

Yes, you must register your boat.  Arkansas law requires that vessels propelled by sail or machinery must be registered.
Exceptions:
Vessels documented by the Coast Guard.
Vessels owned by the U.S., a state or any subdivision.
A ship’s lifeboat.
The registration fee for a vessel less than 16 feet long is $7.50.

Is there any truth to this Internet rumor? “A lion was hit between Prescott and Ashfork, Arkansas, by a car. Fish and Game had to come and put him down. He charged at the Fish and Game guy in the process.  Look at his PAWS!”

An e-mail supposedly showing a mountain lion hit by a car near Prescott, Ark., has been blazing across the Internet. It’s a hoax as far as Arkansas is concerned. According to the Prescott (Arizona) Daily Courier, this incident occurred in Arizona and the mix-up stems from the state abbreviations: Arkansas (AR) and Arizona (AZ).

This is the link to the paper’s article: www.dcourier.com/main.asp?SectionID=1&subsectionID=1&articleID=51766

Is there a senior license and/or lifetime license for nonresidents?

This license is sold only to residents of Arkansas. You must be 65 or older. The license may be purchased any time during the calendar year of the applicant’s 65th birthday.

I have a lifetime license. If or when I move out of state, will my lifetime license still be in effect or will I lose my investment of $1,000 and have to pay for out-of-state tags each year?

Your $1,000 lifetime license will be valid in Arkansas regardless of where you live.
