Hunting accessories need to include ‘the book’
A fun part of a hunting outing is the preparation, the getting together or items needed for the particular quest for wild game, big or small.
License, weapon, ammo or arrows, these are starters. Most hunters add many more essentials or desired accompaniments. Snacks, drinks, basic first aid needs, map - the list can be extensive.
A small but potentially important addition should be the 2010-11 Hunting Guidebook of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission.

Wild hogs go back many years in Arkansas
Where did all these wild hogs come from? A close look at exploration history of the southern Untied States reveals that Hernando de Soto had hogs with him, and he covered a good bit of Arkansas in the 1500s.

AGFC night at I-30 Speedway is Sept. 18
Arkansas Game and Fish Night at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock will be Saturday, Sept. 18. The special event will raise funds for boating safety education work in the state.

More than 156,800 pounds of fish stocked in August
Arkansas Game and Fish Commission crews stocked 373,000 fish in Arkansas lakes and rivers during August, according to Mark Oliver, chief of fisheries. The total stocking of fish weighed more than 156,800 pounds.

Felsenthal National Wildlife Refuge set to host festival
Felsenthal National Wildlife Refuge will be holding a Fall Festival in celebration of the outdoors. The festival will be held Saturday, Sept. 18.

Hunting and Fishing Day to be celebrated at AGFC nature and education centers
Congress formalized the National Hunting and Fishing Day annual celebration 38 years ago. The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission will be marking the day along with the rest of the country on Saturday, Sept. 25.
