Fishing Highlight of the Week: As the days get colder, the fish get deeper. Winter is an excellent time to get out in a boat and find crappie, bass and other game fish schooled up in deep bends of river channels and off deep points. Spend some time cruising in the boat, looking for concentrations of fish. When you see a school, drop a small curly tailed grub on ¼-oz. jighead straight below the boat and allow it to drift a couple of inches off the bottom. Crappie, bass, white bass and walleye will all take the grub, so it’s a good way to find out what you have beneath the boat.
