Greenwood, Lonoke squads snag AYSSP titles
LONOKE – The G-Force Trap Team from Greenwood and Team Nitro from Lonoke were the top shooters in the junior and senior divisions at the recently completed state finals of the Arkansas Youth Shooting Sports Program. The tournament was held June 1-2 at the Remington range near Lonoke.

Arkansas Big Bass Bonanza coming June 29-July 1
LITTLE ROCK – It has been described as Everyman’s Bass Tournament. Better make that Every Person because women and kids are enthusiastic competitors in the Arkansas Big Bass Bonanza right along with the men.

LITTLE ROCK – This is the season for applying for or buying permits for next fall’s hunting. Here is a run-down of what’s going on with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s permits:

National survey to explore dove hunters’ opinions
LITTLE ROCK – An upcoming survey will ask dove hunters across the United States to share their experiences and opinions about dove hunting. Topics will include time spent hunting, demographics, constraints to hunting, and thoughts about potential effects of spent lead from hunting ammunition on mourning doves and other wildlife. The survey is a cooperative effort by the state fish and wildlife agencies, all four flyway councils, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

Capturing, keeping deer prohibited by AGFC’s action
LITTLE ROCK – Capturing deer as pets will soon become a thing of the past in Arkansas.
