MAYFLOWER – The pistol range at the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s Dr. James E. Moore Jr. Camp Robinson Firing Range at Mayflower is temporarily closed. Two ricochets from the pistol range were reported to the range staff within the past month. Engineers are currently assessing the range and its design to see if any safety precautions are needed.
In an abundance of caution, the AGFC has closed the pistol range to see if corrections need to be made to the pistol range design.
The facility’s 200-yard rifle range, skeet and trap ranges are all still open. The range is available for a small fee, which helps cover operating costs: rifle is $3 per person, skeet and trap is $4 per round of 25. Eye and ear protection are provided and spotting scopes are available for a $2 rental fee.
The range was closed for a period early last year after a tornado destroyed most of the facility. To find out more about the range and to see a calendar, go to: http://www.agfc.com/aboutagfc/Pages/AboutFacilitiesRobinsonFR.aspx
