Buffalo National River WMA and Gene Rush WMA; Elk Compartments 1, 2, 3, and 4: Sept. 26-30 and Dec. 5-9 (Permit required)
- Public Land Elk Permit Applications may be submitted online May 1-June 1. No paper applications are accepted.
- Hunters under 16 (as of May 1) must have a valid hunter education number to apply.
- Applicants with 12 AGFC violation points are ineligible to apply.
- Only Arkansas residents or holders of a Lifetime Sportsman's Permit may apply.
- Duplicate or incomplete applications will not be processed.
Private Land Elk Permit Application Requirements
Private Land
Elk Management Zone (Boone, Carroll, Madison, and Searcy counties; Excludes Boxley Valley): Dec. 5-9 (Permit required)
- Private land elk permit applications may be submitted only by mail June 1-July 15. Applications must be postmarked on or before July 15. Call 501-223-6440 to receive a paper application by mail.
- Hunters under 16 (as of June 1) must have a valid hunter education number to apply.
- Applicants with 12 AGFC violation points are ineligible to apply.
- Residents and nonresidents may apply for private land elk permits.
- Only one application per hunter will be accepted for private land elk permits.
- Duplicate, illegible or incomplete applications will not be processed.
- Landowners will be contacted to verify an applicant's eligibility.
