Gas bubble trauma likely cause of fish kills
According to recent tests, two large fish kills below Ozark Dam on the Arkansas River were likely caused by increases in atmospheric oxygen and nitrogen in the water after spillway gates were opened. 

Military retirees get OK to buy lifetime licenses
Gov. Mike Beebe last week signed legislation that allows retirees of the U.S. armed forces 60 and older to buy the Lifetime Combination (hunting and fishing) License from the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission for a one-time fee of $35.50. 

2,100 kids compete in state archery tournament
Arrows were flying as more than 2,100 kids from across Arkansas competed in the Arkansas National Archery in the Schools Program state tournament March 18-19.
