Seminar aimed at urban fishermen

LITTLE ROCK - Would you like to know about the many places the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission stocks fish in public ponds? Do you ever wonder which kinds of fish are in these ponds or how often they are stocked? If so, the AGFC will be hosting a seminar on June 10 to provide useful information for anglers in the metropolitan Little Rock area.

The seminar will be held at the Witt Stephens Jr. Central Arkansas Nature Center in Little Rock’s River Market District beginning at 6 p.m. Anglers will then be able to use that knowledge the following day during Free Fishing Weekend that begins at noon on June 11.

Clifton Jackson, Family and Community Fishing Program biologist for the AGFC, will highlight public fishing areas in the greater Little Rock area. He will talk about the fish species found in each location, provide fishing tips, explain the fish stocking schedule and answer your questions.

Due to limited seating, registration is required by calling the nature center office at 501-907-0636.
