Fishing Tip:  Many anglers fish shiners for bass, but when the bait dies, they simply throw it away. Instead, use the shiner to tip a skirtless spinner bait. It makes the lure more attractive and also slows the sink rate, so you can work near the surface without speeding up the retrieve. Put a trailer hook on the spinner bait. Then hook the shiner through the lips with the main hook and bind the minnow to the trailer hook with a rubber band. The trailer hook should lie flat against the minnow so it doesn’t snag.
